FOCUS ON RENEWAL WELCOMES MRS. DIONA JONES AS THE NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Focus On Renewal is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Diona Jones as the new Executive Director. Mrs. Jones brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success in her previous role at Focus On Renewal. Over the past four years, Mrs. Jones has played a pivotal role in the organization, spearheading various initiatives aimed at community development.
Under her leadership as Deputy Director, Focus On Renewal has seen significant progress in several key areas. Diona has successfully implemented violence prevention programs, ensuring the safety and well-being of the community. Additionally, she has worked tirelessly to enhance our housing program, providing more opportunities for individuals and families in need. Recognizing the importance of art and culture in fostering community engagement, Mrs. Jones has implemented a cultural-driven after-school program for families in McKees Rocks. This initiative has not only enriched the lives of local residents but has also contributed to the overall vibrancy of the community. As the overseer of all programs offered by Focus On Renewal, Mrs. Jones has demonstrated exceptional dedication and commitment. Her strategic vision and ability to effectively manage resources have been instrumental in the organization’s continued success.

We look forward to working closely with Mrs. Jones as we continue to impact McKees Rocks positively.” Mrs. Jones’s being appointed as the new executive director and the first African-American executive director since the organization was founded in 1969 marks an exciting new chapter for Focus On Renewal. With her leadership and expertise, the organization is poised to further its mission of empowering individuals and revitalizing the community.
Focus On Renewal Board President, Tammy Spencer Bey added “Diona cares deeply for the residents of the Sto-Rox community and is a results-oriented leader with a successful record of transformational change, fiscal growth and team building. She has the full support of the Focus On Renewal Board to carry out this critical leadership role.”
For over eight years, Cynthia Haines, Diona’s predecessor, served as the executive director at Focus On Renewal. Her passion for the people of Sto-Rox was evident as she bolstered the agency from a staff of 10 to the team of 40 that Mrs. Jones will now inherit. Ms. Haines grew the budget from $1.8 million dollars in 2015 to the $4.4 million dollar organization it is now. Most recently, she launched the DHS-funded Sto-Rox Community Violence Reduction Initiative with a $10 million dollar grant award that intends to stem community violence over five years. Ms. Haines is also the founder of The Sto-Rox Mental Health Providers Network, which has over 100 members. She stimulated the local economy by always hiring local residents whenever possible and crafting resources and programs where they were most needed.
